Brian was picked because of his diaphragmatic hernia to do a clinical study with Perflubron. Perflubron is a special experimental liquid which carries oxygen. Its purpose is to improve survival by filling the lungs with perfluorocarbon and applying pressure to the airway in hopes of causing lung growth which we hope will increase survival.
We were able to witness this procedure around 12:30. The doctors were injecting the perflubron and Brian liked it so much they had to order more from the pharmacy. Doc said this was a good sign because his body is excepting it. They did an x-ray after the injection and will do another one is 5 days to see lung development.
We found out after surgery that 95% of this diaphragm was missing and his left lung is very small.
Thank you all for all your prayers and comments!! We will keep you updated.
Please God, let those lungs grow! Linda xoxo
