Brian did better this time but not good enough to stay off ECMO. Although the doctors felt they could get him from off ECMO today, they decided that based on how well he has tolerated ECMO a few more days would give him a better chance at a smoother transition next Tuesday. They are optimistic based on his improvement from the last trial. His pulmonary hypertension is under control, but his lung function is not yet where it needs to be. Tuesday will be his twentieth day on ECMO. A scary statistic we were given today is that no CDH baby at Mott Children's Hospital has survived when taken off ECMO having been on it more than 21 days. He has to get off Tuesday! Alyssa and I really appreciate all the prayers, he needs them now more than ever!

  1. I know that tuesday will be important but please remember this---if he can't get off ecmo somebody has to be the first to survive greater than 21 days--it might as well be him if that is what HE chooses!! The doctors said all along that Brian would be in control after his surgery--I guess they were right!! love and prayers to all! deb
