The doctors just met to discuss everything that happened last night and to come up with the plan for today. It is so much more difficult to understand and comunicate everything Brian is dealing with now that he is off ECMO. Before it was lung function and pulmonary hypertension. Now as his body adjusts to being off ECMO all of his organs seem to be affected. Brian is on a lot more medication this morning. His main issues are kidney function and blood pressure. The potassium level continued to drop last night but is not at the level they they are looking for. They are certain he has an infection which they are treating with antibiotics. The doctors told us this morning that on a scale of 1 to 10 Brian's issues are on the very severe side, but as of now still being managed. Alyssa and I can't help but to remain optomistic when you consider where Brian is today compared to Tuesday. He is definitely a little fighter. We also want to express how wonderfull everyone has been in the Holden NICU at the Mott Childeren's hospital. The doctors and nurses are extemely confident and capable but what has impressed us the most is how caring and compassionate they are as well.

well one step forward two steps back--but he is not on ECMO so that is great news! We didn't think he could accomplish that and he did. Let's keep the prayers coming and see what he can do now. He certainly has amazed us so far. Love to all and hang tight!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the update. We've been waiting on pins and needles to hear how the night went. Keeping our fingers and toes crossed and the prayer circle is growing by the minute. Glad you got some sleep last night. You need it. Kisses to Brian and Johnny. Love to you all...

ReplyDeleteThank you so much for updating all of us. I've been on pins and needles waiting to see how things went last night. You have to know that there are so many people praying that Brian keeps up this fight. We all know that it's going to be a long road, but he has proved over and over again that he does indeed have the strength to get through this. My prayers continue to be with you and your family.

Yesterday was a day of miracles and a reflection of the Fathers tender embrace. May His healing power continue to guide the hands of the doctors and nurses who care for little Brian and may his strength continue to sustain you all. The Southeastern portion of Michigan prays continually for all of you. Hearts overflowing with joy on all that little Brian has acheived. Love and Blessings.

ReplyDeleteI thank our triune God and praise Him for His wonderful love to be paying such close attention to the details of our precious little guy's life and struggle to live. God indeed works miracles and works many of His miracles through people. The caring and outpouring of prayers and well wishes as well as the incredible medical staff that surrounds Brian day and night as though they are this family's assigned angels has uplifted and bolstered Brian's family in ways that words just cannot describe. Our hearts overflow with gratitude for all of you who continue to hold up our children and grandchildren in such wonderfully caring and loving ways.
