It looks like Brian will be having that surgery to fix the leak tomorrow. We are not sure why the doctors had such a sudden change in there plan for Brian's course of treatment. Alyssa and I are very nervous because we were told that surgery is not an option until Brian is off the jet vent, which may not happen for weeks. The surgeons have to collapse the right side of Brian's lung to get to the leak. Brian has to be at a low enough vent setting to allow the doctors to compensate by turning the vent up. Brian did very well today allowing Beth to wean him on both the vents. He is doing better now than he has in several days, which probably has something to do with there decision. Maybe the risk of infection out ways the risk of earlier surgery. We are meeting with Dr. M tomorrow morning. We will know more then.
