Brian is much better today! The antibiotics and his own white blood cells seem to be fighting off the infection. Brian is requiring less support to breath, in fact the doctors decided to turn the jet off completely about an hour ago. Alyssa and I are still in shock because he was at 29 yesterday. Brian is being kept very sedated right now because he is extremely sensitive to touch and sound. Brian's head is still very swollen and will be for awhile. He still has a clot in his neck which is preventing the fluid in his head from draining properly. The nurses are giving him a blood thinner to prevent the clot from getting larger. In time the clot will either dissolve naturally or Brian will develop collateral circulation to allow the fluid to drain. One of the doctors gave me a good analogy to explain the clot and what they mean by collateral circulation. Right now Brian only knows one route to Ann Arbor and there is construction on 14 and only one lane is open.

  6. Thank you sooo much for the update. That is some truly wonderful news! Now YOU can take a deep breath, and relax (a little:)

Precious blessing baby Brian, asleep or awake, may you sense the presence and love of your wonderful family, and so many who are believing in God's goodness to bring you to your own home, in your own room, in your own bed, with your very own family surrounding you. May your lungs and immune system continue to strengthen, and your nervous system now begin to grow and mature. Be covered in God's grace, precious little one.

  8. Happy Blessed Six Week Birthday, little Brian James!
May God grant you the time someday soon,
to SEE the wonderful world He created,
to FEEL the loving arms of your parents, family and friends,
to HEAR the laughter of your brother Johnny and your Grandma's lullaby,
to TOUCH the fuzzy coat of your dog Molly,
    to SAY your first prayer,
to TASTE the gooey sweetness of a real birthday cake!
    GOD BLESS!
