Brian experienced a slight set back over night. Apparently he has an infection somewhere in his body. His white blood cell count is elevated and his blood pressure has been a concern. Brian also has a slight fever. The doctors are giving him another medicine for his blood pressure that is helping for now, as well as another antibiotic. Brian has multiple IV lines; the lines in his neck where the ECMO cannula's used to be and his silo, any of which may be the source of the infection. The nurse has sent cultures to pinpoint the source. Unfortunately, it takes a couple days to get the results. The doctors suspect the source may be the silo. They noticed a spot on Brian's intestine inside the silo that has them a little concerned. The doctors plan to replace the silo today and take a close look at Brian's intestines. There is a possibility they may have to remove a very small portion.

Since before Brian was born the doctors have told us that this journey will be a roller coaster. There will be times were Brian seems to take one step forward and two steps back. The doctor don't seem panicked about these recent developments. They are simply obstacles that he must overcome.

  1. ok so we are taking a few steps backwards--he can do that. Let's just get the infection under control and then we can start taking forward steps again. Hang tight--he's a fighter! Maybe it's time to put those intestines back where they belong. Love and prayers to all1
